Studying Human Rights
AT THE LEITNER CENTER
OUR ACADEMIC OFFERINGS
Clinics & Experiential Programs
Our immersive and engaging Clinics provide students with hands-on exposure to real-world international law topics. By partnering with advocates, organizations, and networks across the globe, students participate in efforts to hold states accountable to their obligations relating to non-discrimination, cooperation with international bodies, and providing justice for violations of human rights.
AVAILABLE TO:
Current Fordham law students

Short courses
Designed for students and professionals around the world, our short courses provide an in-depth overview of international human rights law. These courses provide robust introduction to legal practice surrounding human rights advocacy, corporate social responsibility, legal research and writing and much more.
Internships
In addition to periodically hosting interns at the Center, the Leitner Center Summer Fellows program provides stipends for students to participate in human rights internships over the summer. Students intern at international organizations, non-governmental organizations, courts, or with non-profit law firms and other groups advocating for human rights using international law. Leitner Center faculty and staff provide guidance and connections for law students looking for summer opportunities.

Scholarships and support
The Leitner Center recognizes the importance of supporting students and professionals as they enter the international human rights field. Through summer stipends and occasional post-graduate fellowship opportunities, the Center supports students in their studies and creates pathways for their work after graduation. In addition, the Center welcomes students and practitioners through a funded human rights scholarship to pursue an LLM in International Law and Justice.
