How can law schools prepare students to improve access to justice while giving communities a meaningful role in shaping legal services? The Justice Innovation Hub Workshop will explore how law schools can use labs, design studios, and technology clinics to involve students and communities in tackling problems people face when seeking legal help.
Drawing on case studies from U.S. law schools, participants will examine how students have worked with courts, legal aid organizations, and community partners to develop plain-language legal tools and improve how services are delivered. Through small-group and full-group discussions, participants will consider how approaches such as design thinking and public interest technology could be adapted to their own jurisdictions and community needs.
The discussions will inform a proposed practical guide for law schools and their partners interested in developing justice innovation initiatives.
