New York, NY (April 17, 2015) – The Leitner Center for International Law and Justice is pleased to announce that Professor Chi Mgbako, the founding director of the Walter Leitner International Human Rights Clinic, was named a 2015 Rising Star by the New York Law Journal.
Professor Mgbako trains law school students to be strategic, reflective, and creative social justice advocates by immersing them in human rights practice through professional-level projects around the world. Since its founding in 2007, the Clinic has worked on over 30 projects in partnership with 20 grassroots NGOs all over the world. These projects have focused on the sexual health and rights of marginalized populations as well as access to justice.
Professor Mgbako’s book, To Live Freely in This World: Sex Worker Activism in Africa, will be published by the end 2015.
