, lawyer and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Adalah
Rina Rosenberg (Jabareen), Esq.

As violence escalates in Israel/Palestine and the human rights situation continues to deteriorate, what legal avenues exist both for protecting the rights of Palestinians and for addressing the underlying causes of injustice? Leading Palestinian human rights lawyers who engage in strategic, impact litigation within Israeli legal channels, will share the latest updates from the ground, with a particular focus on tactics used to suppress dissent, and discuss the role of cause lawyering in advancing social and political transformation.

Hussein Abu Hussein, AdvocateHussien of Adalah

Hussein is a lawyer and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Adalah. He has worked on a range of human rights issues on behalf of Palestinian citizens of Israel and Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), namely land confiscation and cases of political prisoners. Currently, he represents the Corrie family in their compensation case against the State of Israel for the 2003 killing of their daughter, American activist Rachel Corrie, in Gaza. He is also the author, with Fiona McKay, of the book “Access Denied: Palestinian Access to Land in Israel.”

Rina Rosenberg (Jabareen), Esq. Rina Rosenberg

Rina is a lawyer and a co-founder and the International Advocacy Director of Adalah. Her work with Adalah over the last 20 years includes research and advocacy before UN, EU and US bodies; outreach to the international media; writing and editing publications; and institutional development projects. Prior to working in Israel, she worked as a public defender in NYC and as a clinical supervisor with the Criminal Justice Clinic of Georgetown University Law Center. Rina was a Schell Fellow at Yale Law School in 2005-2006 and 2012-2014.
