The United Nations has recognized the special collective rights of Indigenous Peoples.  But these communities still face marginalization, poverty and theft of their lands.

Hear the outcomes from the UN World Conference from leaders of Indigenous communities from several continents.

Speakers: 

Myrna Cunningham Kain (Nicaragua), President of the Center for Autonomy and Development of Indigenous Peoples

Katie Kiss (Australia), Director of Strategic Projects at the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples

Daniel Kobei (Kenya),  Executive Director of the Ogiek Peoples Development Program

Tracey Whare (New Zealand), Aotearoa Indigenous Rights Trust

Moderator:

Gay McDougall (United States), Former UN Independent Expert on Minorities, and Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence, Leitner Center for International Law and Justice
